They both sound like some things will be resolved. However I wonder what her dad would think about her moms take on spanking!

Deletei hadn't really give this any thought but now that you bring it up, he might just be proud of her for telling Tina never to be disrespectful...............on the other hand, he'd probably blister her bare bottom for encouraging Tina to manipulate her husband.................LOL. what do you think he'd do? as far as Steve goes, i think he's already distracted............LOL. i have a hunch he'll snap out of it enough to go on with the spanking though. personally, i like to do a little patting while i'm lecturing. thanks, phil

ReplyDeletei agree with you..........Mom may indeed be looking at the floor as she tries to talk her way out of this.................LOL. i was pleased that you mentioned that Steve told Tina to always give him her thoughts and feelings. i gave that dialog a lot of thought and so far you seem to be the only one who noticed it. my intention was to show that Steve was actually surprised by her statement and perhaps i could have made that more clear. anyway, i think Steve was just being honest with her. he didn't want to be the one dictating everything..............he just wanted her to stop doing it. after all, it's a partnership. thanks, phil

"Of course, you WILL be running the house" and "make him FEEL like he's in charge" were certainly not the best pieces of advice Tina's mom could give her daughter for a happy marriage. To a large extent, it's Tina's mom getting her into trouble. So I hope for a Happy End, where Tina's dad finds out about this and teaches her mom better ways.
ReplyDeleteTina could also benefit a lot by witnessing her mom's attitude turning progressively during the "lesson" from defiant into defensive, then helpless and finally remorseful. This might take significantly more than her dad's bare hand, but it would be worth it.
Just wondering about the role Steve's mom is playing in this story. I can't find any fault with her, but Steve's dad seems to do so rather frequently.

i can see that you have been thinking about this toon. it's interesting because i have had lots of comments and for some reason, this toon seems to have gotten everyone's imagination going so i have gotten lots of ideas about how the toon should go. .........and everyone has their own ideas about that...............LOL. as far as Steve's mom goes, i haven't mentioned her except that his dad mentions spanking her. i figured Tina would get advice from her mom and Steve from his dad. i'll try to get to that happy ending for you. thanks, phil
ReplyDeleteGreat! Just trying to guess the plot... I'd say, every word of advice Tina's mom gave her, except for the "never be disrespectful" stuff, earns mom by all standards an entry in the punishment book, if her dad keeps one ;-)
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, her mom's self-confidence about running the house makes her dad look like a puppet on a string... No idea which way it goes from here...
But for Tina's own good, I hope she'll finally get practical parental advice at its best! Maybe behind closed doors, as long as she can hear it, and we catch a glimpse of the proceedings ;-)
Eventually, Steve's mom may get word of it and side with her sister-in-law, which is the wrong thing to do, as we know her hubby is no puppet... That'll make two remorseful moms and solid marriage counseling for the young couple...

Minelle and several other folks have made similar comments. this toon is going to be about Steve and Tina though so i'm not gonna be dealing with their folks. they were just in there to help get the ball rolling. to be honest, i don't really know what kind of advice a mother might give her daughter before her wedding so i was kind of guessing. you have some interesting ideas about how this should all go down and for some reason, this toon seems to have stirred folks up and i have gotten lots of ideas about how to proceed. i just love it when one of my toons gets other folks to thinking. i hope you'll enjoy the direction i have chosen for the rest of the toon. thanks, phil
